Slowdive
The world has finally caught up with Slowdive. A band whose reach goes far beyond just influencing music is back, with their first new album in 22 years. Shrink-wrapped. Not in terms of trying to sell records, but in terms of making interesting records. The album is called slowdive - self-titled in an echo of their debut EP from 1990 - and is remarkably direct.
There's a different energy about it, " says drummer Simon Scott. It took ages to get back together and write songs and for it to click in the studio, but this album doesn't feel like a bolt-on - it's got an energy that's as vibrant as Souvlaki and Just for a Day. Maybe, if you try and make interesting records, they're still interesting in a few years' time.

Souvlaki / Slowdive
Digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition of the British Shoegaze outfit's 1993 album featuring a whole disc of rare B-Sides and a special mixes. The album's U. S. Shrink-wrapped. 20 tracks. Shoegazing. Release included the previously unreleased cover of 'Some Velvet Morning' and three tracks from the band's 1993 5 EP, all of which feature on this edition.

Whenever we had a group of 3-4 songs that we were excited about, in the process shortening the amount of time between the original idea and the finished song of the album’s 11 songs, we would go to a “proper” recording studio and finish recording them there, 8 were finished at Carriage House in Stamford, CT and 2 at Palmetto Studio in Los Angeles.
We also worked with sonic boom peter kember, who became a great force on this record by shedding conventions and helping to keep the songs alive, fresh and protected from the destructive forces of recording-studio over-production/over-perfection. 7 is our 7th full-length record. There are songs with layers and production that we could never recreate live, and that is exciting to us.
1 and 7 have always shared a common look, so 7 feels like the perfect step in the sequence to act as a restart or “semi-first. Most early religions also had a fascination with 7 as being the highest level of spirituality, as in "Seventh Heaven. At our best creative moments, we felt we were channeling some kind of heavy truth, and we sincerely hope the listeners will feel that.
As a result, there are some songs with no guitar, and some without keyboard. For 7, we built a "home" studio, and began all of the songs there. At its release, we will have been a band for over 13 years. On 7, we decided to follow whatever came naturally.
